Neptune’s Pride Open Beta Impressions

I’ve been playing Neptune’s Pride for about a week now, it is the first game to be released by Iron Helmet Games founded by Jay Kyburz.
Neptune’s Pride is a space strategy game that is played over weeks rather than hours. It doesn’t require a large amount of effort on the players end especially in the first round or two of play, it does however require some strategy over time or as I found out quickly in 1 of the 3 games I’m playing simultaneously right now, your neighbours will invade and take over any weak defended areas.
One of the first things that struck me about this game is how much it reminded me of my BBS days when I was a wee lad in Middle School playing a game called Planets: TEOS (The Exploration of Space). This is a game my friends and I spent weeks attacking various foe strategically until we controlled every Planet worth controlling in the Universe, It also has some RISK style play.
Since I began playing the game there have been a few changes to improve the overall game play and I suspect there will be many more as the game evolves and people submit their own opinions of the game. This game is full of potential, there is so much you could do with this that I hope to see a much larger game grow out of this beginning.
So in short if your looking for a game that requires a little thinking on strategy but not something you have to dedicate every waking hour to then check out Neptune’s Pride by IronHelmet.
As an added bonus this game is also enjoyable via the PlayStation 3 web browser.
Remember tho if you see DemonicMember as your neighbour you had better offer me something or I just might decide I own your territory, I perfer Cash and Stars please.

Kratos killer?
If God of War was currency, Dante’s Inferno would be the king of counterfeit money.
Even though that first line might make you think I’m about to bad mouth this game, you’d be wrong. The demo currently on the PSN and XBox 360 Live Marketplace to download, is really good. Developed by Visceral Games and published by EA, this game is [from what I can tell from the demo] is GOW but with Kratos taking a break and letting his Italian cousin do some work.
With similar button prompts on finishing moves, telling you press, Square, Circle at a specific time and gruesome killer moves, this game might be a GOW killer or… a cheap rip-off.
PlayStation Home gets Tanks and Guns!
Sony today announced on the Playstation blog that a new Home space would be available called “Sodium One”
Today marks the next evolutionary step of the PlayStation Home platform, as we release a massive 50 level vehicle combat game wrapped inside a highly-interactive and expansive social gaming environment known as Sodium One– a truly revolutionary gaming experience developed by Outso Ltd. and published by Lockwood Publishing Ltd. This entertainment event, set in a future of advanced technology where man and machine meet on a vast salt plain to turn deadly battle into extreme sport, resides only in the ever-growing world of PlayStation Home. And come opening day, you will want to be the first person in. That is, of course, if you want to be the last person standing.
I had a brief chance to check this space out this morning and was very impressed; It blows anything else Home has had to offer so far out of the water. It’s packed full of mini games; has a MMO style of play with resource trading. The game (yes I am calling it a game not a home space) gives you 5 of 50 levels for free if you like playing and want to be part of the game past the first 5 levels you need to purchase an unlock for it by buying a VIP jacked from the store.
At the time of writing this I was having a problem registering on their site as per in game instructions. I kept being told that the passcode I was using was incorrect.
UPDATE: It appears that your PSN id and code are Case Sensitive so for someone like myself whos PSN is DeMoNiCMeMBeR it was being rejected as demonicmember
Sony will also be giving 150 free copies of the game each day for the first 7 days so be sure to log in early for your chance at something free.
U.S. Air Force wants 2,200 PS3 consoles

ABC News has posted an article talking about the United States Air Force has proposed buying 2,200 PS3 consoles and joining them together to form a super computer.
They are just one of many groups that have started using the PS3 to do various tasks from cracking encryption to solving cyber crimes.
